Mission
The mission of the MAJA Awards Organization is to proclaim hope, peace, love and unity -the message of Jesus Christ- through Gospel Music. Highlight excellence in the Gospel Music Industry, showcase the talents of emerging artistes and reward those who have dedicated themselves for service to humanity.
History
The MAJA Awards presentation was established in 1985 in Toronto, Canada to encourage and reward those in the Gospel Music Community for their diligence in ministry and the arts.
Founder, Fitzroy Gordon's work in the Canadian Gospel community has spanned over 20 years. From an Artiste to a Promoter, a radio talk show host, television presenter and newspaper columnist, Mr. Gordon has been an active participant in various aspects of the Canadian Gospel experience. In addition to his work in the Gospel Industry, Mr. Gordon has established a successful career in the Canadian Broadcast and Print Media and was awarded a radio broadcast license for the city of Toronto.
The growth of gospel music and multiculturalism in the major cities and provinces in Canada over the past decade, has inspired the MAJA Awards Organization to revise the awards presentation to support a larger audience base and incorporate nation wide submissions. The MAJA Awards Organization has gone through extensive reorganization, thus drawing on experienced and innovative individuals to make up the executive base of the awards organization. As a result of these changes and sound planning, the MAJA Awards Organization is confident that its presentation will be instrumental in providing an important platform for participants in the Gospel music industry. |
