 Canadian National Gospel Song Festival(CNGSF)

 Eligibility

1.       The MAJA Award CNGSF is open to:
• Canadian Citizens
• Canadian Residents

2.       All Artistes/Performers entering the MAJA Awards acknowledge and profess the Gospel as the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, the son of God (John 3:14-18, 1 John 4:2).

3.       The CNGSF open to all novices, professionals and veteran Gospel Artistes/Performers. Employees of the MAJA Awards are not eligible to enter  the MAJA Awards.

4.       In the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival a composer can submit 2 songs, while a singer can only sing one song. If you are a singer who composes songs, then you are only allowed to perform 1, and the 2nd must be sung by a different Artiste. The MAJA Organization and or its parent company reserve the right to produce all songs submitted by the Top Finalists of the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival on a compilation CD/  DVD, for commercial sale, purely as a fundraiser to assist the MAJA Awards to defray cost.
All persons with or without recordings are eligible for entrance into the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival.

The MAJA Organization will hold the right to re-record, re-release, remix or reproduce all of the songs submitted to the competition from the Top Finalists. This inclusive right begins from the date of entry and will not exceed 3 months following the final MAJA Awards Presentation.

Songs should not have been previously released.

Unauthorized reproduction, duplication or re-recording of the compilation is prohibited by Federal Law.

5.       The winner of the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival will be awarded a trophy and or other prizes (which may include cash or alternative prizes), depending on acquired sponsorship  and will be crowned with the title of “Canadian National Gospel Song  of the Year” at the MAJA Awards  gala Presentation.


 Applications & Submissions

6.       All Artistes entering the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival must complete the Official MAJA Awards CNGSF Application form.

7.       Currently there is NO registration fee to participate in the CNGSF.

8.       When entering the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival, a separate demo consisting solely of 1 Original Song in its entirety must be submitted. No other song should be on this demo CD. This demo must be clearly labeled “CNGSF Original Song Demo” with the song title clearly stated  For each Original Song 3 copies must be submitted (ie: A Composer who writes 2 songs will submit a total of 6 demos; 2 x 3 = 6)

9.       Applicant must provide church affiliation including name of Church, name of Pastor, Church address, telephone number and e-mail address with application.

10.       It is understood that all Artistes/performers, composers and producers  consent to the release of the use of their photos, biographies and names that may appear on any television, internet, radio, newspaper, magazines, billboards or i videos/DVDs for sale or as promotional materials.

11.        Materials submitted to the MAJA Awards will not be returned and become the property of the MAJA Awards (including but not limited to cassettes, CDs, photos video and DVDs).

12.       Artistes/Performers not complying with the rules as outlined by the MAJA Awards Organization will automatically be disqualified.

13.       Incomplete, inaccurate or misleading registration information may result in disqualification at any stage of the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival, Gospel Star and the Awards Presentations.

14.       DEADLINE: All information must be typed or printed clearly on the MAJA Award registration form provided online and sent to the MAJA Award National Office on or before March 31st.
Please ensure that you have completed the correct application form.
Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31st.
Applications sent after March 31st will not be accepted.

15.   All recording or non-recording Artistes must submit a valid and clear photograph of the individual, group or choir. Pictures and or CD’s will not be retuned.

 MAJA Awards Definitions

 The following are words which have been defined and will be used by the MAJA Awards Organization   for the purpose of the running the Canadian National Gospel Song Festival & Awards Presentation.

Recording Artiste: one who has their own recorded album, CD or DVD released for commercial distribution through retail outlets or personal sales.

Non-Recording Artiste: one who has not recorded their own  album, tape , CD or DVD for commercial distribution through  retail outlets or personal sales.

Artiste/Performer: recognized as an individual or collective who submits an entry to the MAJA Awards recording or non-recording categories.

Soloist: a minimum and maximum of 1 individual

Vocalist: a person who sings

Duet: 2 individuals

Group: minimum 3 individuals; maximum 9 collective individuals

Choir: a minimum of 10 individuals who speak or sing collectively a given part of a musical composition.

Gospel: the message of the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, the son of God

Instrumentalist: a person who plays  an instrument of music, without the assistance and use of a vocalist.

Child Performer: a person between the ages of 7  and 15 years of age

Youth/Young Performer: a person between the ages of 16  and 21 years of age
