Sunday June 11, 2006 saw the staging of Maja Awards Red Carpet Gala Affair at the Hilton Kingston Hotel. The Red Carpet Reception featured many stars and award recipient hopefuls. This was a momentous occasion in Jamaican history that was witnessed by many dignitaries, stars and outstanding citizens. The Gospel Star finals was a thrill as the winner was chosen.
All Jamaicans and friends of gospel music worldwide were treated to an event they will not soon forget.
The unquestionable reality is that Jamaica can provide such star performers because of the wealth of raw talent, which exists on the Island of the Smiling Sun. This talent base of gifted Jamaicans are also very visible abroad in places such as the USA, England, Canada and other Caribbean Islands.
The very best from among these talented Gospel Artistes, at home and overseas, were brought together for Jamaica's first international Gospel awards. |
