Maja Awards Definitions
The following are words which have
been defined and will be used by the Maja Awards Organization
for the purpose of the running the Canadian National Gospel
Song Competition & Awards Presentation.
Recording Artist:
one who has their own recording album, CD or tape released
for commercial distribution through normal retail outlets
or personal sales.
Non-Recording Artist:
one who has not recorded their own recording album, tape or
CD for commercial distribution through normal retail outlets
or personal sales.
Artist/Performer:
recognized as an individual or collective whom submits and
entry to the Maja Awards & Canadian National Gospel Song
Competition.
Soloist: a minimum
and maximum of 1 individual
Vocalist: a person
who sings
Duet: 2 individuals
Group: minimum 3
individuals; maximum 9 collective individuals
Choir: a minimum
of 10 individuals who speak or sing collectively a given part
of a musical composition.
Gospel: the message
of the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, the son of
God
Instrumentalist:
a person who plays upon an instrument of music, without the
assistance and use of a vocalist.
Child Performer:
a person between the ages of 7 years of age and 14 years of
age
Youth/Young Performer:
a person between the ages of 15 years of age and 21 years
of age
