RULES: Canadian Recording Artists
Eligibility
- The Maja Award is open to:
Canadian Citizens
Canadian Residents
- All Artists/Performers entering
the Maja Awards acknowledge and profess the Gospel as the
gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, the son of God (John
3:14-18, 1 John 4:2).
- The Maja Awards are open to all
novices, professionals and veteran Gospel Artists/Performers.
Employees of the Maja Awards, their families, subsidiaries
and affiliates are not eligible to enter or submit an entry
to the Maja Awards 2003.
- Age Requirements for the Children
& Youth Performers:
Children Performers are recognized as persons not younger
than 7 years old and a maximum of 14 years old prior to
(and including) the deadline for Nominee Application (see
application for deadline).
Young Performers are recognized as persons not younger than
15 years old and a maximum of 21 years old prior to (and
including) the deadline for Nominee Application (see application
for deadline).
If you are under the age of 16, you must obtain permission
from your parent/guardian before entering.
- There is NO age limitation for
ADULTS (21 years and over) entering the Maja Awards
- Each Recording Artist/Performer
can be nominated for as many Maja’s as eligibility
permits (ie: 1 artist can be nominated for Young Performer
of the Year, Best Female Vocalist & Best Southern Gospel).

Application & Submissions
- All artists entering as “Canadian
Gospel Recording Artists” must complete the Official
Maja Awards Application for Recording Artists.
- There is NO registration fee to
participate in the 2003 Maja Awards.
- By submitting an application the
Artist/Performer agrees to abide by the rules of the Maja
Organization and or its parent company, its Executives and
the decisions of Judges.
- Recording applicants must submit
3 copies of their albums. Please ensure that albums are
clearly labelled with the Artists name, the length of the
songs and contact information.
- Recording Artists’ albums
must have been produced between the periods of January 1,
2000 and March 31, 2003. Any recordings completed after
March 31, 2003 should be submitted next year in the Maja
Awards 2004.
- It is understood that all artists/performers,
composers/producers and attendees consent to release the
use of their photos, biographies and names that may appear
on any television/internet, radio, newspaper/magazines,
billboards or in any videos for sale and all promotional
materials.
- All material submitted to the
Maja Awards will not be returned and become property of
the Maja Awards (including and not limited to Cassettes,
CDs, photos and video).
- Artists/Performers not complying
with these rules outlined by the Maja Awards Organization
will automatically be disqualified.
- Incomplete, inaccurate or misleading
registration information may result in disqualification
at any stage of the Canadian National Gospel Song Competition,
Gospel Star and the Awards Presentations.
- DEADLINE: All information must
be typed or printed clearly on the Maja Award 2003 registration
form provided online and sent to the Maja Award National
Office on or before Monday June 30, 2003.
Please ensure that you have completed the correct application
form.
Applications must be postmarked no later than Monday June
30, 2003.
Applications sent after Monday June 30, 2003 will not be
accepted.
Maja Awards Definitions
The following are words which have been defined and will be
used by the Maja Awards Organization for the purpose of the
running the Canadian National Gospel Song Competition &
Awards Presentation.
Recording Artist: one who has their own recording
album, CD or tape released for commercial distribution through
normal retail outlets or personal sales.
Non-Recording Artist: one who has not recorded
their own recording album, tape or CD for commercial distribution
through normal retail outlets or personal sales.
Artist/Performer: recognized as an individual
or collective whom submits and entry to the Maja Awards &
Canadian National Gospel Song Competition.
Soloist: a minimum and maximum of 1 individual
Vocalist: a person who sings
Duet: 2 individuals
Group: minimum 3 individuals; maximum 9 collective
individuals
Choir: a minimum of 10 individuals who speak
or sing collectively a given part of a musical composition.
Gospel: the message of the gift of salvation
through Jesus Christ, the son of God
Instrumentalist: a person who plays upon
an instrument of music, without the assistance and use of
a vocalist.
Child Performer: a person between the ages
of 7 years of age and 14 years of age
Youth/Young Performer: a person between the
ages of 15 years of age and 21 years of age
